Hello and welcome to Tammy Gregory's Licensed Home Child Care.
I began my home child care in August of 1992, as a REGISTERED Home. In 2001 I became a LICENSED HOME CHILD CARE.
My daycare is a unique setup and location for a 'home' daycare.
The daycare is located inside the North East corner of the NEWLAND FURNITURE building.
The furniture store business is currently closed, however, the front/main entry door is unlocked 7 am - 5:30 pm for daycare entry. I do have security cameras and a large monitor inside the daycare room.
My husband, Mark, works at Peterbilt Division Office in Denton, Texas.
Mark and I have an apartment here inside our building and therefore I am able to maintain my license as a 'HOME' CHILD CARE.
Although my building is a commercial building, I am not a facility or center based childcare. I do not have multiple employees and rooms for different age groups of children. I am a family style caregiver licensed for 12 children. My daycare room is one large open room for all children enrolled and although I do have an occasional part time assistant who has been working with me for 12 years now, I primarily work alone.
I strive to have a safe, clean, well equipped daycare for your child.
Communication is very important. I encourage you to share openly any concerns or questions that may have.
THIS DAYCARE IS 100% smoke free.
* All forms must be signed and returned before your child begins care.
* The daycare must have a current copy of your child's immunizations as well as a Physician's Statement of Health.
* Parents of any infant not yet on solid food will be required to fill out and sign a feeding instruction request form. This form must be updated monthly until the child begins on solid food.
* Your child will not be considered enrolled in daycare until I have received payment for first week of care, and two week deposit payment or arrangements to pay out the deposit have been made.
* I will not hold a position for your child on a verbal agreement.
Tammy Gregory's Licensed Child Care does not discriminate against any child or family based on race, color, national origin, sex, religion, or disabilities.
The daycare will be closed for 2 weeks of paid vacation per year. As a general rule I try to give 5-6 months advance written notice of vacation dates, but I will assure you of a minimum of 30 days advance notice. As stated previously, tuition fees are due 52 weeks per year regardless of attendance.
Please be aware .. in order to ensure providers vacation being part of contracted care..
Parents may not withdraw their child within a two week window of any scheduled vacation dates.
TERMINATION BY PROVIDER
The provider reserves the right to terminate childcare for the following reasons:
* Late Payment
* Late Pickup
* Lack of Parental Cooperation
* Disrespect of Provider or Provider's family
* Lack of Compliance to policies outlined in handbook
* Knowingly bringing an ill child
* Failure of the child to adjust to childcare after a reasonable period of time
* Unacceptable behavior that interferes with the atmosphere of the child-care home and/or is detrimental to the well being of others.
CHILD ABUSE & NEGLECT
If I suspect that a child has been abused or neglected I am required to report it within 48 hours to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services and/or to a law enforcement agency.

Parents can review a copy of this child care’s most recent monitoring inspection by visiting the website. It is also printed and posted on the bulletin board just inside the entry door.
There will be a deposit equal to 2 weeks care due upon enrollment of your child. This deposit may be paid in full, or financial arrangements may be made (see deposit agreement form). This deposit is to serve as final two week payment, provided two weeks advance notice is given, in writing, of your child's withdrawal from my care. If two weeks notice is not given, IN WRITING, your deposit will be forfeited.
As per the VACATION policy .. withdrawal from care can not fall within a 2 week window of any scheduled vacation time for provider.
TUITION PAYMENTS AND LATE PAYMENT FEE
Tuition payment may be made in cash or personal check. You must pay tuition each week or child care services will be terminated. Your tuition is due NO LATER THAN 5:30 p.m., the Friday before the week of service.
Late fees for non payment are $10 per day beginning at 5:30 p.m. each Friday. Tuition fees are due 52 weeks per year regardless of attendance.
CHILD CARE ASSISTANCE
I do accept childcare assistance programs such as WORKFORCE TEXOMA. However, it is important for you to understand that assistance programs will not usually cover the full cost of tuition. Ultimately you will be responsible for all fees not covered by the assistance program, such as PERSONAL days as well as my 2 weeks per year of vacation. Upon notification that your child is covered by the program, I will provide you with a payment chart showing the co-pay and parent fee amounts that you will owe each week. The co-pay and parent fee are two separate amounts and will be due each Friday, IN ADVANCE of the next week of care. If at any point you lose eligibility for the assistance program, you will be responsible for all tuition fees IN FULL.
There will be a charge of $25 on returned checks. Returned checks, including returned check fee, must be picked up in CASH immediately upon notification.
There is always the possibility of emergency closure, due to illness, bad weather, or other unforeseen circumstances. I will notify you as soon as possible if this occurs. In the event that I am unable to open for the day , due to illness or other personal reason, it is your responsibility as the parent to have back up care available to you. Full payment will be required any time the daycare closes for personal days.
CLOSING TIME AND LATE PICK UP FEES
My daycare home closes at 5:30 p.m. SHARP.
My closing time IS NOT NEGOTIABLE.
Please remember you have enrolled your child in a home-based childcare. I have a family of my own and I plan family time and activities for after I close. Therefore I charge a late fee of $5 per minute past my closing time. This late fee also applies if I have posted a notice closing earlier than 5:30 p.m. In the past, I have tried to be good natured and understanding, however it does not change the fact that leaving children late DOES inconvenience me. If you have made arrangements with another person to pick up your child, be certain they are aware of my closing time for that day. You will be responsible for late fees if your child is picked up late by another individual.
The daycare will usually remain open during severe weather such as snow and ice. The exception to this will be if the weather situation causes a power outage. If there is ever any doubt,
please call before bringing your child to care. I will contact you as soon as possible if the power is lost during daycare hours. This daycare is located in the back corner of this building and although I do have two doors entering directly into the day room from the outside, there are no windows, so if I loose power it is completely dark except for emergency lighting and therefore there is no way for me to continue to have the children in the daycare room without power. If we have a power outage I will contact you to pick up your child as soon as possible.
In the event that I must evacuate the children from this building I will take them to the daycare playground to the furthest corner under the awning. This would be the North East corner.
In the event that it is necessary to leave the property I will walk them out the daycare parking area gate and up the hill to the Napa Auto Parts store which is located next door to my building at the corner of Newland Drive and Highway 82. Address - 2101 East Highway 82
All parents will be notified as quickly as possible so that they can pick up their child, should this situation occur.
RAIN ENTRANCE/SEVERE COLD
Keeping the daycare room at a comfortable temperature in winter months is a challenge. Having the door opened and closed multiple times at drop off and pick up time can compromise the room temperature quickly. Therefore, if I feel the outside temperature is too low I will keep the gate to the parking area locked. If the gate is closed when you arrive, please park in front and enter the furniture store entrance. If it is actively raining at opening time, rather than unlocking the gate to the parking area of the daycare, I will have the front main entrance to the furniture store unlocked. Park in the front of the furniture store and enter the main door. If it begins to rain during the day, I won’t be able to leave the children unattended to go out and close the gate, but, if you see the gate is open and the parking area is flooded from rain, please automatically go to front entrance instead.
NOTE: My mother-in-law is 95. She’s forgetful .
Even though I ask her to please leave the front door unlocked when she leaves for the day, she can tend to forget and lock it up .
please MAKE SURE you have my mobile number and the landline phone numbers saved in your phone in case you arrive and the door is locked. Text or call and I’ll run up to unlock.
FULL PAYMENT IS REQUIRED WHEN I CLOSE FOR VACATION OR HOLIDAYS.
I will be closed for the following holidays:
New Year's Eve and New Year's Day
Martin Luther King Day
Fourth of July
Thanksgiving Day and the Day after Thanksgiving
Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and the day after Christmas (December 26) OR if these days fall on the weekend, I will close 2 business days for Christmas. You will be notified each year which days this will be.
In the event that a holiday falls on Tuesday, the daycare will also be closed Monday. If the holiday falls on Thursday, the daycare will also be closed Friday. If the holiday falls on Saturday I will close the Friday before the holiday. If the holiday falls on Sunday, I will close the Monday after the holiday.
PROCEDURES FOR PARENTS TO VISIT
Parents are free to visit the child-care home during business hours of operation to observe their child or my child care operations without having prior approval. However, please remember that younger children have a difficult time when parents come to visit and then leave without taking the child with them.
CHILD CUSTODY ISSUES
It is my intent to meet the needs of children especially when the parents may be experiencing difficult situations such as divorce, separation, or remarriage. However, I cannot legally restrict the non-custodial parent from visiting the child, reviewing the child's records, or picking up the child unless I have been furnished with current legal documents. Copies of these court documents must be kept in the child's file.
COMMUNICABLE DISEASE INFORMATION
Communicable diseases that exclude a child from care are defined by the Texas Department of Health (TDH) in 25TAC 97.9 (relating to Diseases Requiring Exclusion from Child-Care facilities and Schools). You can access this information from the Texas Department of Health or Licensing Staff.
DROPPING OFF YOUR CHILD
All children MUST ARRIVE NO LATER THAN 9:30 a.m. in order to attend care for the day.
This policy is in place to allow for me to plan the course of the day well as to ensure that your child has time of play and enjoy their morning before lunch followed by naptime.
Later arrival times are a disruption to the schedule.
If your child has difficulty with drop off time, please try to reassure them that you love them and will be picking them up later and then LEAVE AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE . In my experience, the longer the parent stays, the longer the crying child 'performs' for them. If you leave, they no longer have you as an audience, and I can begin my job of reassuring them and getting them started on their day. By lingering, you make my job more difficult. If another person will be bringing your child, please be sure to discuss this with them.
PRO TIP- I often use the guinea pigs (daycare pets in the large condominium cage) as a distractio. If I take your crying child from your arms and say ’hey, let’s go see what those silluv guinea pigs are doing today’... that is your cue to exit the daycare as quickly as possible while I walk your child over to the guinea pig house.

I provide a daycare room that is comfortable, clean, and well stocked with a wide range of toys and activities. I strive to keep the toys clean and in good condition for safe, enjoyable play. Almost all children view the arrival of a parent as a 'free pass'. Even the best behaved children will begin to run wild upon the arrival of a parent. Please make every effort to prevent your child from 'running wild' when you drop off or pick up. Although I completely enjoy visiting, sharing important details about your child's day, or other issues, if your child's behavior becomes too disruptive, it may be easier to discuss things over the phone, through text or email or schedule a private meeting at a later tiThank you for your cooperation.
PROCEDURE FOR RELEASE OF CHILDREN
Parents must provide a list of persons authorized to pick up a child who is in my care.
Parents must provide the following information for each person on that list:
Name, address, and telephone number
Person's relationship to the child
Whenever possible I prefer to be introduced personally to anyone that will be picking your child up. A child will not be allowed to leave with anyone other than the parent or person authorized by the parent whose information is included on enrollment form. A person whose information is not on the form can be allowed to pick up the child under the following conditions. The parent calls me or notifies me when the child is dropped off and lets me know the following information:
Name and description of the person
The person's relationship to the child
The person's driver's license number
The description of the vehicle the person will be driving
All children are expected to nap each day. Older children are allowed to watch movies, while the younger children sleep. Please do not ask for child to be allowed to 'stay up'. This rest period is as much for me as for the children. Nap-time begins around noon, (as soon as they leave the lunch table), and lasts until 3:00 p.m. There will be no drop offs during nap time . If you must PICK UP your child during naptime please do so as quickly and quietly as possible so as to not disrupt the other sleeping children. BEST CHOICE is text me, and I will get your child up, send to potty or change diaper and have them ready at the door to lessen disruption.
All meals and snacks will be provided. I participate in a USDA Food Program, The Red River Child Care Food Program. All food served will be nutritious and served in varieties and amounts adequate to ensure growth and development. Please feel free to check menus anytime.
If your child requires a special or restricted diet, please discuss this with me. Children are encouraged to try all foods served, but are not force-fed. However, I do not prepare separate meals for children who simply do not like what is being served.
Please do not bring food in to the daycare. This is very disruptive to the other children in care.
All children over the age of 12 months and under the age of 2 years will be served WHOLE VITAMIN D MILK.
All children over the age of 2 years will be served FAT FREE MILK.
Infants and children not yet potty trained will need diapers and wipes. You may choose to bring a packed diaper bag each day, or provide a supply of diapers and wipes to be labeled with your child's name and left at daycare.
The daycare will supply PARENT'S CHOICE infant formula in soy or milk based, all infant cereal and beginner baby foods. If you prefer another brand of formula for your child you will be required to provide it.
The daycare will provide all infant cereal and baby food once the child begins those foods.
Children must have shoes EVERY DAY. I think we can all agree, Texas weather is very unpredictable. Please keep this in mind when dressing your child during FALL and WINTER months. Many very cold mornings warm up to beautiful afternoons. Children love to play outside, so please use common sense when dressing them for the day. Light layered clothing with sweaters that can be taken off later in the day, or worn outside, are often better than dressing them in thick warm up type material that becomes too hot in the afternoon.
Toilet training is an important step in a child's development. Toilet training takes time, understanding and patience. Toilet training can provide a child with feelings of achievement and self-control, and give him or her added strength and pride. Each step that is taken toward the goal of becoming trained paves the way for the next step of the child's development. Each child is an individual and develops at his or her own rate. There is no set age at which toilet training should begin. The right time depends on the physical and emotional readiness. The most important issue is that the child is ready before beginning to train. This is usually between the ages of two and three years. If training is started before the child is ready, training will be more difficult and take longer.
A child must be able to control the muscles that regulate the bowel and the bladder before beginning to train. Having the ability to get to the potty and then undress quickly are also important. A few things that could indicate your child is ready to begin training are:
~~Can express and understand one-word statements, including such words as: 'wet,' 'dry,' 'potty,' and 'go.'
~~Staying dry for at least 2 hours at a time
~~Having regular solid bowel movements
~~Being able to follow simple, two-step instructions
~~Being uncomfortable with dirty diapers and wanting them to be changed
~~Asking to use the potty chair
~~Asking to wear regular underwear
~~Be able to get on and off the toilet him/herself
~~Understands the association between dry pants and using the potty
~~Enjoys washing his/her hands, likes to be clean
Your child must be able to do most of the above, while in my care, before I will begin potty training. Do not bring your child in regular panties or underwear until it has been cleared with me. During toilet training, I ask that the child be dressed in 'user friendly' clothing as much as possible. The best items are shorts and pants with full elastic waists. Absolutely NO tight clothing, pants with snaps and zippers, belts, tights or overalls. These are difficult for children to remove 'in a hurry'. If your child is wearing an outfit that he/she cannot remove by him/herself, they will not feel adequate in the training process.
Medication to be given during the daycare day must be in the original container, clearly labeled with your child's name and the date the medication is brought to the daycare. It will be necessary to fill out and sign a medication authorization log for both prescription and over-the-counter medication. The forms are located under the daily sign in log sheets on the clip board by the front entrance of the daycare for your convenience.
I DO NOT require my daycare employee to receive immunizations… example… the flu shot.
• Maxi and Moosie are long hair brown/black female.. Minchester is a nuetered male Siamese. They primarily live in the storage room and my personal bedroom. The litter box is in the storage room, separate from our daycare area. You may occasionally see them in the daycare room in the early morning but once children begin to arrive I try to send them back to the storage room for the day.
* Kola is a Pomeranian. Maggie Mae is a Scottish Terrier. Garzi is a Havanese/Maltese mix. The dogs live in the kitchen and use the kitchen door to go outside. Please do not attempt to pick them up.

We also have two guinea pigs in our daycare room. Lip and Carl are in a large apartment style 'complex' so we can observe and enjoy them each day.
Although the guinea pigs are not required to have vaccinations, the dogs and cats are all current on their vaccinations and have health certificates issued by Grand Avenue Vet Clinic.
1. Individualized and consistent for each child.
2. Appropriate to the child's level of understanding; and
3. Directed toward teaching the child acceptable behavior and self-control
The staff of this child-care home uses only positive methods of discipline and guidance that encourage self-esteem, self-control, and self-direction, which includes at least the following:
1. Using praise and encouragement of good behavior instead of focusing only upon unacceptable behavior;
2. Reminding a child of behavior expectations daily by using clear, positive statements;
3. Redirection behavior using positive statements; and
4. Using brief supervised seperation or time out from the group, when appropriate for the child's age and development, which is limited to no more than one minute per year of the child's age.
There is no harsh, cruel, or unusual treatment of any child. The following types of discipline are prohibited;
1. Corporal punishment or threats of corporal punishment;
2. Punishment associated with food, naps or toilet training;
3. Pinching, shaking or biting the child;
4. Hitting the child with a hand or instrument;
5. Putting anything in or on a child's mouth;
6. Humiliating, ridiculing, rejecting, or yelling at a child;
7. Subjecting a child to harsh, abusive, or profane language;
8. Placing a child in a locked or dark room, bathroom, or closet with the door closed; and
9. Requiring the child to remain silent or inactive for inappropriately long periods of time for the child's age.
Reference: Texas Administrative Code, Title 40, Chapters 746 and 747, Subchapters L Discipline and Guidance.
An ill child must not be admitted to my care if one or more of the following exists:
1. The illness prevents the child from participating comfortably in child-care activities, including outdoor play.
2. The illness results in a greater need for care than caregivers can provide without compromising the health, safety, and supervision of the other children in care.
3. The child has one of the following, unless medical evaluation by a health-care professional indicates that the child can be included in the child-care activities;
a. Oral temperature of 100.1 degrees or greater, accompanied by behavior changes or other signs or symptoms of illness.
b. Armpit temperature of 99.1 degrees or greater, accompanied by behavior changes or other signs or symptoms of illness.
c. Symptoms and signs of possible severe illness, such as lethargy, abnormal breathing, uncontrolled diarrhea, two or more vomiting episodes in 24 hours, rash with fever, mouth sores with drooling, wheezing, behavior changes, or other signs that the child may be severly ill; and
4. A health care professional has diagnosed the child with a communicable disease, and the child does not have medical documentation to indicate that the child is no longer contagious.
PROCEDURES FOR HANDLING MEDICAL EMERGENCIES
If your child becomes critically ill or has an injury that requires immediate attention of a physician, I will:
1. Contact emergency medical services or take the child to the nearest emergency room
2. Give the child first aid treatment or CPR if needed
3. Contact the physician identified in the child's record
4. Contact the child's parent
5. Ensure the supervision of the other children in the group
If your child becomes sick while in my care, I will:
1. Contact the parent to pick up the child
2. Care for the child apart from the other children
3. Give appropriate attention and supervision until the parent arrives to pick up the child
4. Give extra attention to hand washing and sanitation if the child has diarrheas or vomiting
5. Expect the parent or authorized person to pick up the child within 30 minutes.
Your child MUST BE SYMPTOM FREE for 24 hours before returning to daycare. Basically this means if you are contacted to pick your child up from care due to fever, diarrhea, or vomiting...
they automatically MAY NOT RETURN the following day of care.
IF your child vomits during the evening hours, or during the middle of the night.. PLEASE do not bring your child to care.
Common sense 'sibling policy': If one sibling is ill...please do not bring the well child to care. Logic would dictate that if one child is ill...the well child is NEXT.
Parents of infants will be required to provide written, signed and dated feeding instructions each month until the child reaches one year of age.
Safe sleeping practices are a priority in this daycare.
All infants will be placed to sleep in an individual crib.
Mattresses are firm and have tight fitting sheets.
The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends infants be placed to sleep on their backs, but once the child is easily able to roll from their back to their stomach they may adopt any sleep position they prefer.
Infants must be dressed comfortably for the season but please be aware, additional blankets will not be used to keep your child warm due to the suffocation risk so it is best to be sure they are dressed in clothing that keeps their legs, arms and feet warm and cozy.
